On June 18th, the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) approved the contract for Herrera Environmental Consultants to conduct lake studies (IAVMPs) for Offut Lake and Pattison Lake. You can expect to see some Herrera boats on our lake in the coming weeks as they start their scientific analysis of our lake.
The required Integrated Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan (IAVMP) will examine lake weeds, nutrient issues contributing to weeds, water quality and a host of other aspects of our lake. They will present the data to our Steering Committee and propose options for dealing with all issues they find.
Public meetings will be held so OLMD residents can get information, ask questions, and give input on the draft work plan.
Once the lake study is complete the Steering Committee will finalize a work plan with community input. It is important to remember that the IAVMP does NOT mandate any specific course of action. The OLMD Steering Committee will work with Herrera, the County, Department of Environmental Health, and Offut Lake residents, to create a workplan that fits our budget and priorities.
