On July 21, 2026, the Washington State Department of Ecology came to Offut Lake at the request of our OLMD Steering Committee to test lake water for possible toxic algae. This LINK shows their results which are summarized below. Overall the water was deemed safe for swimming and recreational use.
Anatoxin-a was 0.010 (below the warning threshold of 1.0)
An Anatoxin-a level of 0.010 µg/L is well below the Washington State recreational guidance threshold of 1.0 µg/L. Based on this specific reading; the water is considered safe for swimming and recreational use under state guidelines. LINK
Microcystin was 0.150 (below the warning threshold of 8.0)
A Microcystin level of 0.150 is well below the Washington State warning threshold of 8.0 µg/L. LINK
